An active state medical license is the baseline requirement to practice medicine in the US. Every provider on this directory must hold a current, unrestricted license in the state listed on their page — not just any US license.
What we check
- The license appears as Active on the state board’s public license lookup.
- The license is not under probation, restriction, or open disciplinary proceeding.
- The provider’s name and NPI match the license record.
- We re-verify at each site build and strip providers whose status has changed.
What we link
The Licensed badge on every provider page links directly to the state board’s lookup tool — usually a searchable URL with the license number as a query parameter, or an instructions page if the board requires manual search.
